Faculty of Romance-Germanic and Oriental languages
1580The faculty of Romance-Germanic and Oriental Languages was established in 2019 on the basis of the former faculty of foreign languages and literature, which was established in 1959.
The departments of the faculty are Romance-Germanic languages, Oriental languages, foreign literature, and Russian language. Specialists in the German language and literature, the French language and literature, the Italian language and literature, the Arabic language and literature, the Persian language and literature, the Turkish language and literature, the Chinese language and literature, the Russian language and literature are trained in these departments. The graduates of the faculty are qualified as philologists and are given privilege in teaching English as alternative specialists of this field. Therefore, the students of the faculty are taught English theoretical phonetics, English lexicology, stylistics of English, theoretical grammar of English language, theory and methodology of teaching English language besides theoretical and practical courses of their majoring languages. Scientific-research works are conducted according to synchronic, diachronic, comparative, contrastive methods.
According to the “Concept of improving the teaching of foreign languages”, the faculty staff works effectively in the development of new methods of training, the training of highly qualified experts, implementation of the concept at all levels of the educational process, preparation of electronic dictionaries, modernization of academic programs of the taught languages (German, French, Italian, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Chinese, Russian). The professor-teachers of the faculty are carrying out significant works in improving the system of training of teachers, the educational and methodological base in this area, preparations of electronic dictionaries, academic textbooks, and manuals.
On graduating from the University, the students are qualified as “philologists, teachers in their majoring languages, as well as privileged as English language teachers”. The graduates of the faculty are able to work at the educational establishments, scientific-research institutions, culture systems, mass media broadcasting, and other state fields.
